The Working Group on Energy Recovery (WGER) addresses the energy recovery from municipal solid waste, comprising the combustion processes, the efficient production of energy, the control of emissions and the handling of residues. Bettina Kamuk, a chemical engineer with over 30 years of international experience in waste management, has served as project director, manager, and technical advisor on numerous Waste-to-Energy (WtE) projects, from small to large scale. She recently advised on a major Integrated Waste Management Facility in Singapore (over 2 million tons/year) and led planning for a 900,000-ton/year WtE plant in Abu Dhabi. 

Her expertise spans the entire waste-to-energy (WtE) project lifecycle—from feasibility studies and technology assessments to design, procurement, and commissioning. Bettina also follows developments in thermal gasification, pyrolysis, and carbon capture. Known for her strategic insights, she specialises in procurement strategies and early project phases, advising both government bodies and private clients. 

Bettina’s global network and leadership roles, including chairing ISWA’s Working Groups and Scientific & Technical Committee, underscore her influence in the field. Her proactive approach has driven the development of several innovative, high-efficiency WtE projects worldwide.

Engineer graduated from Mines Paris Tech (France), Christophe CORD’HOMME has more than 30 years of experience in the Environment and Renewable Energy industries, especially in municipal waste treatment, air pollution control & renewable energy production (ANDRA, ENTROPIE, CNIM, LAB).

Former Deputy General Manager for LAB S.A and Development Director for CNIM Group, he managed complex key Waste-to-Energy projects in Europe and developed innovation and market intelligence for the sector. He created in 2022 his consulting company WasteTT (Waste Thermal Treatment) S.A.S. proposing resource recovery expertise. With this industrial experience, he published many papers and is invited as a recognized “world-class” speaker and panellist to several international conferences per year about renewable energy and environment. Lecturer in Master Environment at University Sorbonne Paris Nord.

France representant as National member of the General Assembly of ISWA, he was elected Vice Chair of the Working Group Energy Recovery of ISWA.
